I remember there was a lighter in my father's car but my car has none. We also had a fax machine but it is gone now. In Karachi we also had vcr cassettes rental shops but it is difficult to find one these days.Most of us have a few remotes in our houses and looks like they will stay for a few more years. My usage of cd's and dvd's has declined to the point that I only use them for installing windows. I download songs and backup on external drive or online services like skydrive and mediafire.
So in a way we are doing the same as has been described in the article.
